We were taking a walk on the waterfront a few days ago and watched as this dog sprinted along the walkway while its owner ran behind. I wanted to grab a picture, but the settings on my camera were still set for very low light. I snapped a photo anyway. When Tracy saw it, she said it looked like a dream. We still miss our dog, Sadie, and this is our first Christmas without her. This reminded us of those fun days with our boo bear.

Saying Goodbye
I woke up yesterday morning from a dream that we had found the reason for Sadie's sickness and then realized that she was still gone. It was the first day without her, and it was hard. Sadie and I took walks every morning and often detoured to meet other dogs and get into conversations. My morning felt a bit empty without her here.
Sadie was the best dog we could have asked for. Tracy brought her home one day without asking and I couldn't be more thankful. She brought so much joy to us and to everyone she met. There is a big hole in our hearts. Thank you, Sadie, for always being a ray of light in our lives. You will be sorely missed.

Junkyard
In Sant Pau d'Ordal, where we spent the last several days, just down the street from our flat, we ran into this small junk heap on the side of someone's house.
At any point during the day, we could walk down there and find at least 1 of these 3 cats hanging out.
They weren't incredibly fond of Sadie, but they refused to back down.

Paco Plaza
We were asked recently about things that define daily life in Barcelona. I think this shot embodies
it. Life is lived outside. This is a square near our flat that we walk through several times a day with Sadie. We call it plaza Paco because there is a restaurant called Pizza Paco in it and one called Casa Paco. It is a wonderful place to meet up with friends and chat for hours.
Sadie has been a bit sick of late and as we walk through this square, people will get up to ask how she's doing and give her love, even if their food is left sitting on the table.

The Passage Way
There is an old passage that connects Sant Pere Mes Alt and Trafalgar. It is completely enclosed and used to be a place with Kiosks and shops. Now there is a bar at the front of it. There is something so retro about this picture and I really liked how it turned out. I may be the only one.

Sadie attempted to guide us through it but didn't get very far.

Make Your Mark
As I said a couple of days ago, the people of Barcelona have a lot to say, and sometimes in a uniquely artistic way. In Barrio Gotico, tucked back into the streets is this chalkboard. People can write anything they want (and they definitely do). Sometimes there is even chalk provided to write with...or I guess you could just bring your own. I love checking out messages and the doodles whenever I'm down in the Gotico and need to get away from the crowd.
Sadie also liked the flowers out front and 'made her mark' as soon as we were done with the pics.
